Ruth C. (Sturrock) Mehrman, 95, of Weymouth passed away February 21, 2016, surrounded by family and friends, at the home of her daughter, Janis Panttila, with whom she lived. Wife of the late Frederick F. Mehrman, she was the loving mother of Janis and two deceased children Laurie Murray, and Fred Mehrman; beloved grandmother of Tracy, Tammy, Fred, Kathleen, Julie, Kurt, Mason, Jennifer and Maura. Also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Barbara, William and the late Elsabee, Mabel, June and Gladys. Ruth "Ruthie" was born in Quincy, March 16, 1920, to parents Sadie (Wilson) Sturrock and Alexander Sturrock. Ruth graduated from Quincy High School in 1938. After graduation, she worked for several insurance companies in Boston and retired as treasure of a sheet metal company in Randolph. Ruth was happy crocheting afghans, babysitting, writing letters to family and friends, cooking and being the perfect hostess. Ruth will be remembered as a loving and giving person who adored her family and found comfort in the simple things in life. A celebration of life will be held in her honor at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Saturday, March 19, 1-4 p.m. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
